La Jolla del Sol is a UC San Diego apartment community specifically designated for faculty, staff, fellows, those pursuing postdoctoral programs, and full time graduate and medical students.
Resident(s) agrees to maintain their eligibility, as defined by the University of California, in the following Affiliated Housing Eligibility Requirements:
1. Faculty must provide:
a. UC San Diego identification card with current sticker
b. Request for Verification of Employment (available on Blink’s “At Your Service” website), Appointment Distribution Summary verifying indefinite end dates, an official department appointment letter stating begin and end dates or a post doctoral appointment study form
c. A J1 or H1 Visa status form if applicable
2. Staff must provide:
a. UC San Diego identification card with current sticker
b. Request for Verification of Employment (available on Blink’s “At Your Service” website) or Appointment Distribution Summary verifying indefinite end dates
c. A J1 or H1 Visa status form if applicable
Eligibility is determined by the following:
• Ability to perform either #1 or #2 outlined above appropriate to your classification.
• Committed couples eligibility criteria:
a. One partner must be a regularly enrolled, full-time student, as defined in 1 and 2 above.
b. Couples can provide a valid marriage certificate or written documentation of any two of the following arrangements:
i. Joint ownership of a motor vehicle
ii. An insurance policy held by one partner that names the other as a beneficiary
iii. A will on behalf of one partner that names the other a beneficiary
iv. Executor or durable power of attorney granted by one partner to the other
v. Joint responsibility for loans/debts (i.e., credit cards)
vi. Joint ownership of property
vii. Joint checking or savings account
viii. A contractual financial arrangement that obligates each of the two parties to provide support, and in the event of termination of the partnership, provides for an equitable division of any joint property
ix. Previous recognition as partners under the policies of another university, company, or municipality, city or state registry
x. Legal recognition as a family by an outside entity such as a church community
xi. Co-parent of minor child(ren) and evidence of a least half-time custody by one of the partners
xii. Other documentation may be submitted for consideration
Parents must provide valid birth certificates for each child, or if applicable, court documents granting the resident at least 50% physical custody may also be required. Dependent children must reside with the resident.
Falsification of any information regarding partner and dependent eligibility will result in termination of housing.
Couples agree to notify the Housing Office of any change in the status of the partnership within (30) thirty days of change (includes death, marriage, divorce, separate living arrangements).
