Room Selection: “Plus 3” Summer Living Program

We are offering “Plus 3” Summer Living at all 6 undergraduate colleges beginning June 15, 2009. The purpose of this program is to offer guaranteed students:

• The ability to move into their 2009-10 academic year space on June 15, 2009 eliminating the need to move until the end of their 2009-10 Housing Contract.
• Stay and play in San Diego over the best weather months (no requirements for taking summer session classes).
• Competitive rates with utilities, cable, internet, housekeeping and dining included!

“Plus 3” is a new summer living program available to students eligible for Room Selection 2009. If you hold a housing guarantee for the 09-10 academic year, you are eligible to participate in this “3 month” summer housing program. This “Plus 3” program allows you to stay on-campus all year long by moving in 3 months early to your new 09-10 housing space that you selected during Room Selection. Enjoy all the best La Jolla has to offer.

Interested residents can choose from a limited number of pre-identified apartments in their college of registration, where they will receive Housing and Dining for the summer of 2009 in addition to the 2009-10 academic year. The rates for “Plus 3” Summer Housing Program are as follows:

DETAILS

• Students interested in the “Plus 3” Summer Living program will need to mark that option on their Personal History Form during the Room Selection application process (see dates below). Interested students should begin discussing group interest NOW in order to select the “option” during the Contract Process on April 28th, 29th and 30th.
• Emails will be sent to those students who selected the “Plus 3” Summer Living program with detailed information about the next steps of the process. All emails are sent to your UCSD email account!
• Only those students who marked the “Plus 3” Summer Living program will be allowed to create a group.
  • All Plus 3 roommates for the 09-10 academic year do not have to commit to the “Plus 3” Summer Living program. Individuals or groups of 2, 3, 4, or 5 may opt to be part of this new program; however preference will be given to full groups of 4 or 5 where all students are interested in the Plus 3 program.
  • Groups must be of the same gender.
  • Groups must be of the same college of registration.
• Students who opt for the Plus 3 Program will receive a detailed email on May 1st.
• If students do not create a group on May 5th, they will be re-directed back to their college of registration for general Room Selection.
• Once a group has been created, there can be no changes to that group!
• Group members will be sent an email with their access code and the randomly assigned lottery time for their “Plus 3” Summer Living Group.
• On “Plus 3” Room Selection day, groups will log in and select from the available apartments.
  • If your group does not have a full apartment of “Plus 3” students, the open space will be used to assign Summer Session students.
  • Creating a group doesn’t mean that you are guaranteed a space – it means you have the opportunity to select an apartment if one is available for your group size (1-5 students depending on the college).
  • Groups that can’t select a space will be re-directed back to their college of registration for general Room Selection. If you are still interested in living on-campus during the summer (outside of the “Plus 3” program), please visit the Summer Session website.
  • There is no penalty for not being able to select a space!
• If your group selects an apartment on Plus 3 Room Selection Day, that is your space for the 2009-10 academic year as well as your new “Plus 3” summer living space!
• A confirmation email will be sent to each group member at their UCSD email address with your assignment information.

CONTRACTS & BILLING

• A separate prepayment is required in addition to the Room Selection prepayment.
• As a benefit for continuing residents, summer billing will be provided in 3 easy installments.
• The “Plus 3” contract extends from June 15, 2009 to September 18, 2009. Residents currently in on-campus spaces will be able to remain in their current 08-09 housing space through the morning of Monday, June 15, 2009.
• The 2009-10 academic year contract begins on Saturday, September 19, 2009. Summer dining plan does not carry-over into the academic year and all money should be used by September 18, 2009.
• Hours will be posted in each of the Summer Session Dining Facilities (For detailed dining information, go to Dining Services Hours in mid-June for summer dining hours).
• The Summer Dining program offers only “all-you-care-to-eat” meals at a set price per type of meal. If a Resident misses a particular meal period, a limited assortment of “grab and go” items will be available at Summer Conference Service Centers, Roger’s Place, Earl’s Place, and the ERC Activity Center. All of the Summer Conference Service Centers will be open until 11pm.
• Dining Dollars are deposited on your UC San Diego Student I.D. card at the beginning of the term of this Contract and expire at the end of the term of this Contract, are non-refundable, non-transferable, and cannot be deposited to the Triton Cash program and do not rollover into the next academic year.
