MUIR

Information Meetings

Meet Your Mates
Monday, April 28, 2008; 8:00pm – 11th Floor Seminar Room, Tioga Hall

Take this opportunity to form a group or to meet other Muir students who are interested in living in the Muir Tuolumne or Warren Apartments available to Muir students next year.

Apartment & Residence Hall Information
Individual apartments house four or five students in one double and two or three single rooms. Each Tuolumne Apartment has cable television and computer data connections. During Room Selection, each resident will select a specific room in his/her chosen apartment. To be equitable to men and women, apartments will be identified as male or female apartments. This designation will be based on the percentage of males and females entering Room Selection for Muir College. There will be a number of residence halls spaces available in Tenaya and Tioga Halls, and that Muir students will also have access to additional apartment spaces at Warren College Apartments. Warren apartments are 4 & 5 person apartments and have either two double rooms or a double and a double room converted to a triple room.

Coed Apartments
Coed groups of four or five men and women may apply for an apartment together at Muir. Coed apartments are only available at Muir College and are only available to guaranteed Muir students. Not all groups who apply to live together as a coed group will receive coed housing.

Any student interested in coed housing must apply online for room selection, sign their contract and submit their $650 pre-payment in exactly the same way as for individual room selection (deadline midnight Thursday, May 1). The coed application consists of a written application, an interview with the Resident Dean and a written recommendation from a House Advisor. The Applications are available online at muir.ucsd.edu/studentlife/reslife/ or at the Muir Residential Life Office.

The interview with the Resident Dean must be completed by 3pm on Friday, May 2. The required written materials must be submitted to the House Advisor writing the recommendation letter for your group no later than Wednesday, April 16. Individuals in coed groups who apply for coed housing but are not selected will continue in the regular Room Selection process without penalty. All other Room Selection rules, policies and procedures uniformly apply to coed groups. Coed apartment groups who lose an individual at any time will be separated; the apartment will no longer be coed, and members of the group will be offered other available space on campus.
